American History X Essay - 1126 Words
American History X nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Will racism ever come to an end or will its path go on infinitely? For the most part, the majority of people respect those who are different either in color, race, and/or heritage; however, there are those few that hold bigoted views towards people who are different than they are. The movie American History X by Tony Kaye displays an example of people who hold bigoted views. Derek, a Neo-Nazi leader, must contend with his actions relating to his past racist views and actions. This powerful movie explores its characters thoroughly and gives reasons why people become so callous and turn towards a racist group. It also exposes insight to problems that plague America when it comes to racism inâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Derek realized that hatred towards people did not help him, his family, or the situation at hand. Instead of being negative and destructive, why not be positive. Hurting people and destroying property does not solve problems, but only makes the m worse by causing more resentment and tension between people (Theriou). Nothing good has ever come out of a situation where one person has been the victim of a crime or abuse. Good things come out of situations where people show hospitality, good will, and compassion; not hatred. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; It is made very clear that Derek and Danny have no affiliations with the Ku Klux Klan. Derek calls the KKK a bunch of disorganized rednecks that very inanely run around with sheets on their heads. Instead they are part of a Neo-Nazi group in Southern California. Titian Essay Example For Students
Titian Essay No one knows exactly when the Italian artist, Tiziano Vecellio, was born. Over the centuries, there has been a great deal of confusion concerning the date, due to a misprint in his biography by sixteenth century art historian, Girgio Vasari. Vasari recorded the date as 1480, but the progress of Tiziano Vecellios work, as well as other documented sources, announce his date of birth to be sometime between 1488 and 1490. (Magill 2310) The place of his birth was Pieve de Cadore, in the Alps north of Venice. Tiziano Vecellio, also known as Titian, was a great master of religious art, a portraitist, and the creator of mythological compositions, which have been so decorative and inventive that no other artist has yet surpassed them. People such as his wife, Cecilia, Giovanni Bellini, and the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V, influenced Titian. (Magill 2311) Titian is considered to be one of the greatest artists of the Italian High Renaissance. Titian developed an oil-painting technique during his time as an artist of successive glazes and broad paint application that influenced many generations of artists to follow along with his other various important accomplishments. Titian had many accomplishments in his lifetime. In 1518, Titians Assumption of the Virgin was shown at the Church of the Frari in Venice. It was in this composition that Titian seemed suddenly to absorb the achievements of the Roman High Renaissance style. At the time, it was learned that Titan had not traveled much, and therefore assumed that he squired this knowledge of art by visiting artists, studying their drawings and reproductive engravings. During the decades following his appearance in the art life, Titians reproductions placed him along with Michelangelo, as the most powerful artist in Europe. He was recognized for his mythical paintings, three of which he created for Alfonso I dEste of Ferrara, called The Bacchanal of the Andrians, The Worship of Venus, and Baahus and Ariadne. Among his many patrons, the most important were the Spanish Habsburgs. Titians fame, wealth, and social position resulted from his patrons and admirers. His major artistic inhibitions included being especially creative with diagonal placing and perspectives, as well as setting up unusual spectator viewpoints. Among his most famous works, rests the picture known as The Gypsy Madonna. This picture is a variation of the half-length Madonna and Child popular with Giovanni Bellini. Although, Titian moves all the major forms off center and encouraged the viewer to look diagonally into a landscape to the left of the Madonna. Over the years, Titian continued to develop his individual style. He used color and light to define his forms instead of lines. (Magill 2310)A turning point for Titian was when he returned home from Rome in June of 1546. He had the opportunity to see first hand the places that Michalangleo and Raphael had seen and created their artwork from. (Encyclopedia of World Biography 242-243) He therefore produced his own masterpieces during his stay in Rome. Paul III and His Grandsons was a presentation of a dramatic encounter between the aged pope and his conniving grandsons. This work is one of the most psychologically showing works of the time. (Encyclopedia of World Biography 242-243) When Titian arrived back in Venice, he created the Christ Crowned with Thorns, which was an interpretation of an encounter he had in Rome. He created various masterpieces throughout his experiences, which are still widely known today.Titian set out with his elder brother, Francesco, at the age of nine to study in the workshop of Sebastiano Zuccati, and then soon began to study painting with Givanni Bellini. It is with Giovanni that Titian learned his current Venetian style and techniques. .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 , .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .postImageUrl , .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 , .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505:hover , .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505:visited , .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505:active { border:0!important; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505:active , .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505 .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u497498dff2a8eaa7f543253928c7d505:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Desertification Essay Titian met a painter by the name of Giorgione. Titian began to work for Giorgione for the German Commercial Headquarters in Venice. This man was significant in Titians life because of the great influence he placed on Titians style of work. The similarities between the two artists is so nominal that scholars have had trouble telling their work apart on unsigned paintings. Among others who influenced Titians career, are the Spanish Habsburgs, as mentioned previously. He had close relationships with Charles V, Francis I, Alfonso and Isabella dEste, the Houses of Ferrara and Urbino, which made him the first of the princely painters of the Renaissance and the one whose position was most international and well known over all others. Charles V was by far one of his greatest admirers. Charles V made Titian a count and had him brought to Augsburg two times as court painter. Charles son, Philip II continued the bond with Titian after his fathers death in 1558. The fact that these people brought Titian fame and wealth is not even the least of it, but they brought him a great social position as well. (Encyclopedia of World Biography 242-243)One woman, Cecilia, began a relationship with Titian in the early 1520s, with whom he had two children with before they married, and two after they married in 1525. Unfortunately, Cecilia passed away in 1530, just five years after they were wed. (Magill 2311)The work of Titian holds great influence on the world of art, even today. During the latter years of his life, Titian strove inexhaustibly to try to capture feelings that were ever-changing. Every time he would create a new impression, he would see another element of beauty to either add or alter in the piece of work. The air of distress and sadness that rested on Titian with these efforts are shown in the succeeding works of his lifetime. It is thought that this aura of sorrow is capable of moving a person so much that a sadness like this is only found in Rembrandts last portraits, and no other accomplished artists. Titians work is significant for this effect of inspiring and stirring emotion in even the tamest heart. (Encyclopedia of World Biography 242-243)Titians style of art, and his masterful techniques with religious art, mythical compositions, and successive glazes have never been surpassed. They influence generations of artists to come, and will continue to do so as long as his work is studied. His place in the Italian High Renaissance will never be overlooked. Titians health, inherited from his mountain race, along with his tendencies toward order, balance, and determination, defined the dominant characteristics of the art that he created. He is credited for his being capable of expressing beauty which springs from the deepest happiness of life, and granted his art with that sort of expression. His art was important and has influenced artists after him. He is considered to be a magnificent creator of beauty, which is a well-suited consideration. Bibliography:

Sociology Midterm Essays
Sociology Midterm Essays Sociology Midterm Essay Sociology Midterm Essay They are lack of emotional support and cultural guidelines for their actions. As well as lacking of commonalities, criminal behavior and political protests occurs because of no social integration, since they dont have social bonding with the society. In contrasts, I believe criminal behavior could be done in both degree of solidarity. Criminal behavior could occur from the category of low solidarity simply of sharing few beliefs, values and moral standards. On the other hand, criminal behavior could occur In a high solidarity situation as well, for example suicide bombers. Its a criminal act that suicide bomber oppose to do and I believe they are doctorate in the high solidarity category, because they feel when a member of a such group perceive that the group is threatened they are likely to be willing to sacrifice their life to protect the situation. This means criminal behavior contradictorily could happen because a persons social integrations are highly built and knitted with the society as well. You have been assigned a research study that examines possible discrimination against men in child custody cases. What will be the population(s) you will study? How will you sample the population(s)? How will you account for sex, race, age, income level, and other characteristics in your population(s)? If you took a qualitative approach, how would your methods differ? If I am assigned to research and examines possible discrimination against men In child custody cases, I would use a survey style. My population target group would be male groups that are once or currently trying to get there child from child custody cases. Ill use a sample, by random selects and categorizes them by income level only. This is because, no matter what nationality and how old they are as long as their income level succeed In a certain area, winning child custody case should be no problem. This Is because as long as a person has money, they should be able to support the children. My method would be different because a qualitative approach refers to situations where you collect data in an unstructured way. If you use an unstructured interview you will have qualitative data. Qualitative data will form the basis of a pilot study, where the aim is to get the best possible feel for the situation through broadly defined data. The results from the pilot study are then used to reduce a relatively more quantified approach. Select a cultural practice Tanat seems 000, Inexplicable, or Irrational to you Ana explain why this is so. By either interviewing members of the subculture group, and/ or reading or doing research about them, explain how the subculture practice you chose makes sense to members of the subculture group. Subculture is distinct social groups within wider cultural formations that define themselves in opposition to mainstream culture. The term subculture has been used extensively in cultural studies to distinguish those social groups, usually youth roofs, who use style to signify resistance to dominant culture. Subcultures, for example the low pants groups. One of the subculture practice that had always seem very odd, inexplicable and irrational to me is wearing your pants low till you see the bottom of your boxers. I mean, what is the point of wearing your pants so low? You cant run properly when your pants are so low because simply it might Just fell off. Honestly, I think wearing low pants are Just inappropriate, since your showing your boxers around in the public to demonstrate your coolness. Wearing low pants never amazed me. Low pants were originated from prison. Where prisoners who were available to be seduced/raped by other prisoners would wear their pants low and the trend was lasted and eventually seek out of the prison cell into almost every corner of the streets, because people wants to continue the trend remember the history. But the definition of being seduce and raped by other male prisoners had been erased. On the street people who wear lows pants simply wants to look cool with the old gangster like fashion. They believe wearing their pants low would attract females. Imagine you are a religious leader who is trying to retain young adults as they grow up and separate from their families. You recognize that marriage and parenthood are no longer considered as important in the transition to adulthood as they were in the past. What rite of passage could you develop to appeal to todays young adults? Why are such ceremonies important in our society? What do they symbolize? I would make my appeal full of statistic numbers, which will seem very convenience. I would use numbers and examples of the history to acknowledge peoples stupidity about their current thinking. This kind of ceremonies are very important to our society, because without the sense of marriage we would not care about the bonding towards our society, and without parenthood, we wouldnt realize what is it feel to continue life for our next generations. This is very important to our society because this allows human to create our next generations and to get the sense of parenthood as our ancestors did. Our children, who would one day become like us and continue to do sexual reproductions to maintain the number of population in the world. This symbolizes reproductions of our next generations and the continuation of life in this society.

Find Out What It Means to Be on Academic Probation
Find Out What It Means to Be on Academic Probation Academic probation is the most common term colleges and universities use to indicate that a student is not making the academic progress the institution requires for graduation. Academic probation often means that a students grades and/or GPA are not high enough to continue in school if his grades or GPA do not improve. Someone can be placed on academic probation for a variety of reasons, although all will be academic in nature. Nonacademic offenses could lead to disciplinary probation. No form of probation is good, as it could result in a students suspension or expulsion. What Leads to Academic Probation? A school may put a student on academic probation because of her cumulative GPA or because of her GPA in the classes required for her major. A single semester of poor grades could also lead to academic probation. Perhaps even direr: A student may end up on academic probation if he fails to meet the standards of any financial aid he is receiving- it all depends on the schools rules and what is required to remain in good academic standing. Even if a student thinks she is doing well in school, she should familiarize herself with any GPA standards she must meet, whether for her major, scholarships, an honors program, or basic academic requirements. The best strategy, of course, is to avoid any issues in the first place rather than unexpectedly ending up on probation and having to work out of it. How to Respond to Academic Probation If a student does end up on academic probation, dont panic. Being placed on academic probation is usually not the same as being asked to leave college. Students are given a probationary period- often a semester- to demonstrate that they can indeed make successful academic progress. To do so, students may need to increase their GPA by a certain amount, pass all of their classes, or meet other requirements, as determined by their school. While there will certainly be pressure to succeed- failing to boost grades or meet certain standards could result in suspension or expulsion- there are several things a student can do to make the most of this second chance. First, be clear on what is required to stay in school. The specific steps of a students academic probation, as well as how long the probationary period will last, should be outlined in the notification the student received from her school. If its unclear as to what steps to take to move out of academic probation, the student should ask as many people as possible until she finds out the information he needs. Once its clear what lies ahead, its important to ask a key question: Are there any changes the student needs to make in her day-to-day life to ensure she reaches her academic goals? For example, if the student can cut back on some extracurricular activities, social commitments, or work hours to increase study time, she may want to do so. She should ask an adviser or a trusted mentor for resource recommendations like a study group or individual tutor because extra support can go a long way in a high-stakes situation.

Why Students drop off from School Annotated Bibliography
Why Students drop off from School - Annotated Bibliography Example This book revolves around the issue that how the behavior of a student can be the reason why he/she is not committed to school and doesnââ¬â¢t pay attention in class. This unserious and lazy attitude can result to bad grades, punishments which can affect the confidence of one individual. They start disliking everything about the class and ultimately even the lessons taught in them. Students start to bunk class, get absent frequently, forget to do their homework, projects etc. which results to a bad report. If the student fails, then he/she has to repeat the grade. That student has to go through the same classes another year, which doesnââ¬â¢t bring about a difference in his/her character again. Like the book says; ââ¬Å"This further bores the student (p15).â⬠The book tells that after numerous research, the number one reason students gave as to why they drop out school is because of lack of connection to the school, an observation saying that school is boring. They feel u nmotivated, academic requirements and personal situations discourage the student from doing well at school. Another thing noticed was that these students hang out with people who are also not interested in school at all, bunk classes and just want to have fun. This non-serious attitude of their group makes students think itââ¬â¢s cool or fun to skip school and not pay attention in class. The book explains that lack of communication between students, parents and teachers is main reason behind drop=off and effective communication could resolve this issue. The author believe that ââ¬Å"our student would be achieving more, more of them would be graduating and they would be better prepared for college or careers (p6)â⬠Judith L. Meece, Jacquelynne S. Eccles. Handbook of research on Schools, schooling and human development. London: Routledge, 2012. Print The study in this book informs that feeling unmotivated or uninspired to work hard was a major factor in the drop outsââ¬â¢ restlessness with school. In focus groups, the teenagers said how school was uninteresting, uninspiring, and irrelevant and that they didnââ¬â¢t learn anything. The academic requirements were also very high; too much homework and work load worried these students which made them lose interest. Some corny students take every word of the teacher, personally sometimes, which builds hatred towards the school and everything about it. The book appears very

A New Strategy for Kodak Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
A New Strategy for Kodak - Assignment Example The fall of Kodak began around the 1970s. The emergence of new (digital) imaging technologies and the entrance of more competitors in the photography sector saw the giant enterprise experience decreasing sales thus fewer profits and slow growth (Jones, 2011). This downfall led to the emergence of the debate as to whether Kodak could regain its position in the imaging industry, or whether it would diminish until it vanished at the start of the 21st century. The following study text discusses the implementable new strategies for Kodak which would not only revive its stance in the imaging industry but also help it advance its business model to match the new era and the demands of cloud services. In integrating the Kodak Company into the cloud service industry, thus striving to retain its dominance in the imaging sector, Kodak requires several objectives. The first objective is to align all its segments to match with digital imaging, which is the key determinant of business in the 21st century. This means that its licenses, products, and services should match the acceptable standards of digital imaging. The second objective would be training its employees and all involved partners in production to adapt to new technologies of production so as to match the demands of cloud services. The third objective is to come up with data and financial systems which are accurate and reliable since data and financial control are a necessity in cloud services. Fourth, Kodak should partner with an established cloud enterprise which can overly advertise the reformed Kodak in the cloud community. Finally, Kodak should acquire flexibility when it comes to cloud services in that it has to customi ze its services depending on some specific target market segments. In so doing, it is bound to attract more clients by satisfying needs specific to particular segments.
